PRINCESS ANNE, MD - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) battled Morgan State in a fantastic five-game victory over the Bears. Led by senior Jana Milin's third triple-double of the season, the Hawks won 31-33, 30-26, 30-20, 27-30, 16-14. UMES (15-14, 7-2) was guided by Milin, who had a match-high 26 kills and 20 digs plus 13 assists for the triple-double. She also chipped in with three service aces, one solo block and two blocking assists. Seniors Aja Smith and Eriel Jeffery each contributed 11 kills, while Marlee Johnson had 12 digs. Freshman Kate Smith led the team with 47 assists. Morgan State (16-17, 6-4) had three players reach double-figures in kills as Esther Johnson led the way with 18. Mandisa Richardson had 15 kills and Korinne Lewis totaled 10. Johnson and Richardson each had double-doubles as Johnson had 15 digs and Richardson had 11. Ashley Preston led the team with 17 digs. Junel Jeffries led the match with 49 assists.
The Hawks will return to action on Tuesday, November 9th as they welcome George Washington to Tawes Gym. The match is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m.
