Princess Anne, MD - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore Volleyball Team (24-9, 9-1) defeated Norfolk State University (2-20, 1-9) in three straight games by scores of 30-12, 30-23 and 30-19. This pushes their winning streak to 16 of their last 17 matches.

The Hawks were led by Mamie Lewis with 13 kills and 8 blocks. Sanda Dzile notched 30 assists in the victory.

I am really proud of how the team finished the confrence season. We defeated every school in the MEAC we played this season with the exception of Florida A & M. I hope we can avenge that loss in the MEAC tournament," said Coach Toby Rens.

Norfolk State was led Stacey Williams and Amanda Johnson, who each had 9 kills for the night.

The Hawks next match is against George Washington University in Washington, DC on November 11 at 6:00 p.m. The battle against the Colonials will be bitter sweat for the Hawk coaching staff as Head Coach Toby Rens was a former assistant and helped take the team to several NCAA appearances. Assistant Coach Renee Arnold played for Rens there and was part of an NCAA Tournament team. Following the match against GW the Hawks travel to American University on the 15th to wrap up the regular season. After that it is on to the MEAC Tournament in Greensboro, NC on the 21st and 22nd of the month.
