"HAWKS MOVE INTO SEMI-FINALS OF MEAC TOURNAMENT"

BALTIMORE, MD- The University of Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks (20-14) grabbed that illustrious 20th win today and advanced to the MEAC Volleyball Tournament's semi-final round. The Hawks swept past Howard University 3-0 (30-23, 30-18, 30-21).

MEAC Player and Rookie of the Year Jana Milin (Pula, Croatia) recorded ten kills for the Hawks and had seven digs. She was aided by fellow freshman Leticia Wallace (Austin, TX) who had a match high 11 kills. Team captain Dari Ganoza (Lima, Peru) recorded ten digs to go with her five kills.

Three players with six kills each and Brittany Williams who notched 18 helpers paced Howard.

MEAC Coach of the Year Toby Rens was happy with the win. "We had a team effort. We played well enough to move on and I can't say enough about this team. To go from three to 20 wins in one season is amazing."

UMES moves on to face the two seed Morgan State University tonight at 7:00 PM in Hill Field House on the campus of Morgan Sate University.
