UMES VOLLEYBALL ADDS TWO MORE FRESHMEN FOR 2013 SEASON

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. -- UMES head coach Millicent Van Norden has added two more freshmen, Arielle Bothelo and Sonia Rosales, to the team for the 2013 season.

These two along with Moriah Brookins, Haley Robinson and Allison Woods currently make up the first freshman class under Van Norden's tenure.

Arielle Bothelo - L - Honolulu, Hawaii - Nanakuli H.S.
Bothelo will join future teammate Haley Robinson as the first two players to play for the Hawks from Hawaii. Bothelo earned a place on the 2012 U.S. Women's Junior National A2 Volleyball Team, one of four liberos across the country to earn a spot on the team. This past season she helped Nanakuli High finish second in the O'ahu Interscholastic Association White West Division and earned honorable mention league honors. She competed with the Marinas Volleyball Club and can play libero, setter or outside hitter.

Sonia Rosales - S - Victorville, Calif. - Serrano H.S.
Rosales comes to UMES as one of the top setters out of California. A two-time Mojave River League First Team player, she helped Serrano High to a league title in 2012 and led the Diamondbacks to 19 victories and a berth in the 2A-CIF Southern Section quarterfinals. Averaging 6.5 assists per set, Rosales was named to the Daily Press All-Area Volleyball First Team to stand as the best setter in the High Desert area.
