Sept. 19, 2005 PRINCESS ANNE, MD -- The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) Athletic Department will host the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Volleyball Roundup beginning on Friday, October 14 and ending on Sunday, October 16. All games will be played in the William P. Hytche Athletic Center. The roundup, which will feature all 11 MEAC volleyball teams, will pit the schools in the Northern Division versus the Southern Division. The Lady Hawks, led by senior captain Eriel Jeffery, are in the Northern Division and will play every team in the Southern Division (N.C. A&T State, S.C. State, Bethune-Cookman, Norfolk State and #24 Florida A&M) in a span of three days. UMES plays in one match on the first day of the tournament, facing off against #24 Florida A&M in a nationally televised contest at 3 p.m. Day two of the tournament will feature the Lady Hawks battling two teams; the first match pits UMES against S.C. State at 11 a.m. followed by N.C. A&T State at 5 p.m. The Lady Hawks face Norfolk State and Bethune-Cookman on the final day of the Roundup, playing against the Spartans and the Wildcats at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., respectively.
