MEAC Volleyball Awards - Week 9

NORFOLK, Va. -- For the second week in a row and fourth time this season, UMES outside hitter Saitaua Iosia has been honored as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.

This is Iosia's (Long Beach, Calif.) seventh MEAC Player of the Week honor in her UMES career. UMES has earned six of the nine MEAC Volleyball Player of the Week honors this season, four more than any other conference institution.

The sophomore led the Hawks in kills in two conference shutout victories this weekend. UMES defeated Delaware State on Friday and Morgan State on Sunday to stay undefeated in conference play and stand in first place in the MEAC North at 7-0.

Iosia hit .322 this week, combining to earn 31 kills, three aces and eight digs in the two matches. She hit 17 kills against Delaware State and 14 versus Morgan State, each the match-high.

Iosia and the Hawks will play on Friday, October 26th at 7 p.m. against Howard at home for Senior Day.
