Nov. 1, 2004 Greensboro, N.C. - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) swept the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Volleyball Honors the week ending October 31, 2004 as they had the conference selection for player and rookie of the week. Jana Milin, the MEAC Player of the Year in 2002 and 2003 earned her second selection of the season for Player of the Week. The junior outside hitter from Pula Croatia averaged 5.3 kills per game, one service ace per game, and recorded a hitting percentage of .319 in two matches last week. She posted a double double against Loyola (Md.) with 26 kills and 11 digs. Freshman Setter Kate Smith is on a roll as of late. This week she earned her third Rookie of the Week honor and second in as many weeks. The Carpentersville, Ill. native had 76 assists and ten digs in two matches, including a win over Hampton to record Head Coach Alex Temkin's 50th career victory. The Hawks are back in action this week on Thursday with a 7:00 p.m. match against Morgan State at home in Tawes Gymnasium.
