Nov. 11, 2004 PRINCESS ANNE, MD - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore's (UMES) Volleyball junior standout Jana Milin was named to the first team of the 2004 Academic All-District Volleyball Team today, Thursday, November 11, 2004. The selection was voted on by all district II members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). This is Milin's first selection to the team. She currently carries a 3.906 GPA in General Studies with a concentration in Hotel and Restaurant Management. The native of Pula, Croatia is the Hawks current leader in kills, kills per game, aces, aces per game, digs, and digs per game. Milin has the Hawks headed into the upcoming Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Tournament as the number two seed second to only #24 Florida A & M University. She currently stands second in the country in aces per game, has four triple doubles and three 30-kill matches this season. She also has one 30-dig performance. She joins Aimee Huddleston of the University of Maryland, Mary Clare Coghlan of Towson, Christin Bimberg of Marshall, Darcey Miller of Robert Morris, and Celine Nguyen of Villanova on the first team. The first-team selection now makes her eligible for voting to the National CoSIDA 2004 Academic All-American Team.
Milin, despite her junior standing, will graduate this December with her degree and has plans to attend graduate school in the spring. She will lead her Hawks into their last match of the season on Friday at 7:00 pm. against Coppin State University. Along with her, fellow seniors Mamie Lewis, Aja Smith, Marlee Johnson, and Candice Ringgold will be honored.
