Nov. 16, 2004 PRINCESS ANNE, MD - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) volleyball team will compete in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) championship held in Greensboro, North Carolina from Thursday, November 18 to Saturday, November 20. The Hawks will enter the tournament as the number two seed behind the nationally ranked Florida A&M Rattlers. UMES (17-15, 8-2) earned a bye into the quarterfinals on Friday, November 19 where they will face the second lowest remaining seed from the first round of action on Thursday, November 18 in a 10:00am match. A win in the quarterfinals will put the Hawks into semifinal action which will also be on Friday, November 19. Game times for both semifinal matches are slated for 7:00pm. The championship will be held on Saturday, November 20 at 12:00pm.
The Hawks enter the championship owning the best record in the northern division of the MEAC. They are led by two time MEAC Player of the Year Jana Milin (Pula, Croatia/University of Economy), who garnered her third MEAC Player of the Week honors on Monday, November 15. Milin was recently named to the 2004 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District II Volleyball Team and currently stands second in the country in aces per game. She has five triple doubles and three 30-kill matches this season.
