ECAC Volleyball All-Star Teams

CENTREVILLE, Mass. - UMES middle blocker Ndidi Ibe has been honored as an Eastern College Athletic Conference Division I Volleyball All-Star Team selection, the league announced on Thursday.

The seven-member team was selected by the head volleyball coaches of the ECAC, consists of 88 institutions in the Mid-Atlantic and New England areas.

Ibe (North Richland Hills, Texas) was the only Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference player and only middle hitter to earn a place on the team.

The First-Team All-MEAC selection finished the year as UMES's all-time leader in blocks, concluding the 2012 season with a league-best 130 blocks. She hit .312, third place in the MEAC, with 292 kills to finish as just one of two players in the conference to earn triple digit kills and blocks. She also added 29 service aces and 50 digs.

She helped UMES to its best season in school history, finishing 28-6 with a second straight MEAC Championship and NCAA Tournament berth. The Hawks had strong victories against West Virginia, North Texas, Jackson State and Florida A&M among others, falling to eventual NCAA Tournament quarterfinalist Nebraska in the first round.

The rest of the ECAC D-I Volleyball All-Star Team includes Seton Hall setter Shelbey Manthorpe and five outside hitters: Taylor Akana of Siena, Caroline Douglas of Liberty, Kari Honomichl of Niagara, Ariana Mankus of Army and Lydia Rudnick of Princeton.
